Janluca Kostner

IFMGA mountain guide

Janluca Kostner, born in 1998, belongs to the younger generation of the Catores. After several years with the Val Gardena climbing team and successful national competitions, he turned his focus toward classic alpinism at an early age. He reached a major milestone at just 18 years old: together with his friend Titus, he climbed the Eiger North Face under adverse conditions - to this day, likely one of the youngest rope teams to have conquered this wall.

In addition to his practical skills on the rock, Janluca brings a unique expertise to the team: his studies in meteorology in Innsbruck allow him to assess weather and mountain conditions from a different perspective. Since 2023, he has been working as a full-time mountain guide, leading his guests with equal enthusiasm on high-altitude tours in the Western Alps and long climbing routes in the Dolomites.
Away from the mountains, Janluca finds his balance in music. He is a passionate concert-goer and loves to travel - moments where he gathers new energy for his next projects on the peaks.

Janluca’s favorite tours:

Fish Route (Marmolada), Cassin (Torre Trieste), Tour du Ciel (Valais).

Personal Highlights:

  • Guiding the 1,000m-long Pichl Route on the North Face of Sassolungo.
  • Discovering the wild and adventurous South Ridge of Piz Popena with a client.
  • Traveling to Patagonia: endless horizons with dream tours on the finest granite, far from the crowds.

Janluca’s Motto:

Enjoy the mountains with serenity; they aren't going anywhere.
