Stefan Stuflesser

IFMGA mountain guide

Stefan Stuflesser (born in 1962) has been rooted in the mountain world since childhood. His passion for mountaineering was practically passed down to him in the cradle by his father Edi, one of the founding members of the Catores. After a few years working as a sculptor, Stefan completed his mountain guide training back in 1983 and has been leading his guests to destinations all over the world ever since. For many years, he passed on his extensive knowledge as an instructor for South Tyrolean mountain guides and mountain rescue teams, as well as a coach for the local ski club and climbing team. Today, when he is not to be found on the summits or on the slopes as a ski instructor, he enjoys the sun in the most beautiful climbing areas of the South.

Stefan’s favorite areas:

Dolomites, Verdon and Patagonia

Personal highlights:

  • Ascent of Cerro Torre
  • Yosemite and crack climbing in the USA
  • Watching the young Val Gardena climbers grow up

Stefan’s motto:

The art is not to become a great alpinist – but to grow old as a climber and mountain guide.

Climb high, feel free.A mountain guiding tradition that moves you: with the passion of the Catores to your goals in the Dolomites.
