One of the most popular snowshoe hikes in Val Gardena takes us to Rasciesa, a high plateau that is easily accessible by funicular from Ortisei. Once at the top, we start our tour through stone pine forests and gentle alpine slopes. The trail offers impressive panoramic views of the deeply snow-covered Val Gardena, the majestic Sassolungo, the Sella Group, and the imposing Odle Group.
Depending on your mood and preference, we can extend our tour to the summit cross of Außerrasciesa and the Holy Cross Chapel, or we can head straight to the cozy Rasciesa Hut to enjoy a well-deserved break with South Tyrolean specialties. The return journey takes us quickly along the winter hiking trail back to the mountain station of the funicular.

We start directly at our office in the center of Ortisei and reach the bottom station of the funicular in just a few minutes on foot. The comfortable ride brings us up to Rasciesa, where we put on our snowshoes and start hiking.
Initially, we follow the trail toward the Cason Alm, soon immersing ourselves in a quiet stone pine forest and ascending gently through the snow-covered landscape. Leaving the forest behind, we reach the expansive high plateau of Rasciesa, where an impressive panoramic view awaits us: from the main ridge of the Alps featuring the Ortler, across the Catinaccio (Rosengarten), all the way to the Sassolungo (Langkofel), the Sella Massif, the Gardena Pass, and the Odle (Geisler) Group.
Depending on your preferences and the snow conditions, we can climb further up to the summit cross of Außerrasciesa and the idyllic Holy Cross Chapel. We top off the experience with a stop at the cozy Rasciesa Hut before making a relaxed return along the winter hiking trail to the mountain station and taking the funicular back down to Ortisei.
