The Tour du Ciel, translated as “Tour of the Sky,” is a dynamic high-alpine ski mountaineering route set in a stunning glacier landscape, surrounded by seven 4,000-meter peaks that come very close to a ski tourer’s idea of heaven. Our week-long ski tour takes us over six days through breathtaking high valleys and glaciated terrain parallel to the Matter Valley. We start in Zermatt, passing the imposing Matterhorn, traversing between Dent Blanche and Ober Gabelhorn, with Zinalrothorn and Weisshorn constantly in view, all the way to the summit of the Bishorn, before finally returning to St. Niklaus. This high-alpine ski tour offers everything an ambitious ski tourer could wish for!

Day 1: Arrival and ascent to Schönbiel Hut
Travel from Zermatt by lift to Schwarzsee, then continue beneath the famous Matterhorn to the Schönbiel Hut (2,694 m).
Elevation gain: ↑400 m
Day 2: Mont Durand (3,744 m) – Cabane du Mountet (2,886 m)
Via the Col Durand (3,440 m), Mont Durand (3,744 m) and Cabane du Mountet (2,886 m).
Starting from the Schönbiel Hut with views of the Matterhorn, we ascend via the Hohwänggletscher to the Col Durand. In good conditions, we continue to the summit of Mont Durand with impressive views of the Ober Gabelhorn. From the pass, a steep initial descent leads onto the Glacier Durand, followed by a short re-ascent to the Mountet Hut.

Day 3: Dome de Moming (3,657 m)
From the Cabane du Mountet, facing the Ober Gabelhorn and Zinalrothorn, we ascend to the Dome de Moming (3,657 m).
We then ski down via the crevassed Glacier de Moming and, after a short re-ascent, reach the cozy Cabane d'Arpitettaz (2,786 m).

Day 4: Col de Milon – Cabane de Tracuit (3,256 m)
We ascend beneath the Weisshorn to the Col de Milon, descend the slopes below Tête de Milon, and after a short climb reach the high орналас Cabane de Tracuit (3,256 m), offering views of the surrounding 4,000-meter peaks.

Day 5: Bishorn (4,135 m) – Turtmann Hut (2,519 m)
The highlight of the week: ascent of the Bishorn, a perfect 4,000-meter ski touring peak with wide views over the Valais Alps and the Weisshorn.
A spectacular descent follows over the Brunegg Glacier to the Turtmann Hut.

Day 6: Wasuhorn (3,343 m) – St. Niklaus (1,955 m)
On the final stage, we continue via the Piipjilicke to the Jungtaljoch, with a detour to the Wasuhorn.
A final descent over the wide slopes of the Jungtal leads us into spring conditions before taking the cable car from Jungeralp back to St. Niklaus.
