The royal route via the west ridge of the Marmolada is a high-alpine venture that uniquely combines a glacier crossing with a via ferrata. Starting at Lake Fedaia, the ascent first leads up to the Forcella Marmolada. This is where the actual via ferrata begins: via the spectacular west ridge, you head towards the highest point of the "Queen of the Dolomites." Once at the summit, a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding peaks opens up. After a well-deserved rest at the Capanna Punta Penia hut, the descent takes place across the glacier, making the tour an impressive traverse.
For mountaineers with excellent stamina, the west ridge is an absolute highlight of the Dolomites. Especially early in the season, when snow conditions are good, this tour reveals its very special charm. Let a Catores mountain guide accompany you and experience an unforgettable alpine tour to the highest peak of the Dolomites!
