Marmolada - Guided Regular Route

Marmolada (3,343 m), the highest peak in the Dolomites, impresses with its glaciated northern face and steep south walls. Alongside the West Ridge, the north-facing ascent via the normal route is one of the few classic high-altitude mountaineering tours in the Dolomites. In good conditions the glacier is well covered in snow and the ascent to Punta Penia is usually done using crampons and an ice axe. A thoroughly diverse tour: an early start at the Fedaia Pass, an ascent in snow and ice, a short via ferrata just below the summit plateau and to top it off, a stop at the small mountain hut right on the peak.

This tour is perfect as an introduction to high-altitude mountaineering and is also manageable for experienced, physically fit hikers with via ferrata experience. We, the mountain guides of the Catores Alpine School, usually offer this tour only early in the season, as conditions from late July onwards often make an ascent difficult or even impossible.
